I was trying to install Gimp on my mac with snow leopard using macports. It did not go flawless so I decided to make a little guide to help others with the same problem. the first thing you want to do is update macports write these commands in the Terminal:
sudo port selfupdate
sudo port upgrade outdated
Now macports should be upgraded. Then you have to patch somethings up in macports, to do that you have to download these files:
Save them in downloads. Then you have to write some commands in the Terminal:
/gimp-app/Portfile Downloads/patch-Portfile.diff sudo cp Downloads/patch-main.c.diff /opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org
/release/ports/aqua/gimp-app/files/
Be sure that the files are in the Downloads directory. Then the last command:
sudo port install gimp
Now it should work. Just write gimp in the Terminal to start gimp. Macports is pretty slow so here is a funny picture of Saiboten while you are waiting:
